Application of Solidarity in Social Work Practice
Nicholas Trietsch, MSW, LICSW, will lead this interactive workshop reviewing the Preamble of the Social Work Code of Ethics through the lens of solidarity in practice. With a focus on Appalachian and rural communities, the session explores historical and ongoing forms of oppression that shape social work today and offers practical strategies to foster empowerment, connection, and social justice.
Participants will engage with key concepts such as oppression, discrimination, and social change, and will gain practical skills to apply these principles in their professional and personal work. The session encourages critical self-reflection and includes interactive opportunities for role play and skill-building to reduce harm and strengthen solidarity.
